Europa Network¶
This is a very small network of European airports and flights, intended to support testing of the PassengerSim simulation engine. It is not intended to be a realistic representation of the European air travel market. This network is larger and more complex than the 3MKT test network, but still quite small, with just 33 markets across only 8 airports in Europe and 2 elsewhere. All travel is west-to-east.
This network has three carriers:
Bratwurst (Brat) is a “legacy” carrier with a hub at FRA. It has 3 banks of flights there,
with multiple inbound and outbound flights in each bank. It offers service to or from every airport
in the network, with the exception of KEF. It has a monopoly on eastbound markets from FRA,
including WAW, HEL, ATH, and SIN.
Stroopwaffel (Stroop) is also a “legacy” carrier, with a hub at AMS. It has 3 banks of flights
there, with multiple inbound and outbound flights in each bank. It offers service to or from every
airport in the network. It has a monopoly in three markets: CDG~AMS, JFK~AMS, and KEF~SIN.
Tapas (Tapas) is a low-cost carrier (LCC) operating primarily out of Madrid, serving customers
originating at MAD or KEF. It operates three “banks” of flights at MAD, where each bank starts with
an inbound flight from KEF, followed by connectable outbound flights to other European destinations.
There are no long-haul international flights, and the carrier does not serve CDG. It has a monopoly
only in the KEF~MAD market.
